The Certificate of Naturalization- A Very Important Document Proving US Nationality

The government of United States has started giving certificate of naturalization since 1st October, 1991 by the USCIS and on or before 30th September 1991 by Fedral courts and particular state courts. In this certificate of naturalization the government of United States offers a document as a proof of US citizenship which states that the applicant has the US nationality.

There is a specific eligibility criterion for the certificate of naturalization application. The applicant must be 18 years of age. He should have legal permanent address in United States and must have had a status of legal permanent resident in United States for more than 5 years less 90 days before they apply. The applicant should have a good moral character and needs to qualify test of United States history or the government. The applicant is expected to be physically present in the country for minimum of one half of five years with absence not longer than 6 months. The applicant should also have to be a resident of more than three months from the state where he has filed his petition. The candidate should also have a working knowledge of English language. After which the candidate also have to undergo a test in which he has to choose for an old test or new test. It is very important for the applicant to have gone through all these criteria then the applicant is expected to be personally person in the interview. Once the full application process is completed then the Certificate of naturalization is granted or continued or denied to the applicant. Even when the application is granted the applicant cannot get the certificate until the Oath of Allegiance is taken.

This certificate of naturalization allows the holders to take all the benefits of a United states citizen like applying for the passport, right to vote, right to participate in Fedral programs such as social security and facility to qualify for certain security clearances.

Before taking the certificate of naturalization few important things should be checked like the certificate must be signed by the director of USCIS otherwise the certificate is not considered valid. Secondly the applicant must also sign the certificate by writing his/her full name in cursive writing.

After this series of legal work the certificate of naturalization is ready to use and the applicant is a responsible citizen of United States so now they can enjoy all the legal rights of the country and proof to be a responsible citizen of the country.
